ten images of inspiration : a very fine engagement.

After spotting these engagement photos yesterday on Smitten (taken by Max Wanger who is known around the internet for photographing Joanna and her beau, first image shown below), I couldn't resist searching around for some ultra sweet ones to post on here. I shall leave with these to cheer you up on this Friday night (unless you're the bitter type, then I would suggest not looking any further)- Happy weekend everyone!

We're starting a bit early on our spring cleaning around here, starting with our boys' room/attic. Now if only we could get it to look like this...

the best of paris fashion week.

And so, the fashion weeks are now over. As far as all of the cities go, I have to say that sweet ole' Paris rocked it the hardest- so many ruffles and gorgeous shoes and bright colors and perfect silhouettes. Plus, the workmanship of many of the pieces/collections was just incredible. I admit there were a couple of major disappointments (anyone else totally confused by Alexander McQueen's choices this season?), but all-in-all, I adored the majority of the shows. Here are my top favorites, although there are quite a few of the shows I loved missing from here (Stella McCartney, Hermes, Yves St. Laurent, etc.) For the complete line-up of designers, click here.

the milkland bandit.

I am truly and completely smitten with this new print by Emily Martin. Her artwork already is displayed around my home, but I think I might need to add this one to the collection. ($18)

freebie of the day : birthday invitation.

Yet another freebie from the always-creative Sarah Neuburger of The Small Object- This time she has designed free party invitations in honor of her birthday, which she celebrated on the fifth (Happy Belated Birthday, Sarah!) I am planning a party within the next couple of months, so I might just have to use these- so sweet and colorful.

interior inspiration : flea market style.

When it comes to interior design, I would have to say that flea market style is probably my favorite. Sure, it can sometimes come off as too country or grandma-like, but when done well, I think it is absolutely beautiful. I adore seeing other people's collections of one-of-a-kind pieces from long ago, carefully displayed around their homes. Sadly, Portland doesn't really have the best (or really any) flea markets, but we do have our share of estate sales and thrift stores that I scour constantly. These images show the exact style that I hope to complete in our home someday.
