I came across ScissorStitch's shop a few weeks ago, which I think is absolutely lovely. Every scarf, linen, and baby accessory is modern and hand-crafted beautifully. Today, though, I came across her blog, which I must say is equally inspiring. Oh yes, yet another talented Portland resident!
What is with Portland that makes everyone so great at crafting?! I've been wondering now for a year or so, since it seems that 90% of all the lovely craft blogs are based there... Or are you just very good at blogging? ;-) On a more seriuos note, do you have great art education in high school, or what is it that makes you so creative?
ReplyDeletethat's a good question. part of me thinks that it has something to do with having to spend a lot of time cooped up during the nine months of continuous rain (which equals a lot of time to come up with things to do inside the house) and it partly has to do with the sense of community here. portland has this great feel, like you can say, "hey, i want to accomplish/create this!" and a whole bunch of people will get on it and make it become a reality. i love that about this place.
ReplyDeleteand as far as i know, we don't have the most amazing art education (but i am originally from southern california, so i don't know much about that).
yeah i think that since i have the same thing here in vancouver! the rain makes me do more crafting than i would if it's sunny!!
