morrissey owns my heart...

...which means these limited-edition prints from Hunting Bears do as well. Beautifully well-designed posters featuring lyrics by The Smiths? I'm definitely sold. ($35 each or $90 for all 3 designs)

interior inspiration : windows.

I know it's a simple theme, but good windows make a home. Especially here in the Northwest, where the lovely sound of rain pounding on them makes the wet seasons much more tolerable.

hello, cold weather.

Fall is definitely upon us, which brings along the cold and the rain. The folks over at Whooga are doing a give-away for some nice warm Ugg boots (perfect for this time of year)- all you have to do is sign up for their newsletter or add them on Twitter.

Also, they are giving Design is Mine readers a special 10% discount for the next week: just type in "667MIME." Thanks, Whooga!

...of owning this dress. I could easily see myself wearing it everywhere from the library to a night out on the town. Dear Creatures, you're constantly making me swoon. ($159.99)

(By the way, I hope you all had a glorious weekend- here's to a great week!)

thought of the day : hello there.

"Bonjour mademoiselle," another stylin' and fabulous print from Blanca Gomez's shop. ($30)

enthralled by...

...the very candid film portraiture of London-raised photographer Viktor Vauthier. His images are almost voyeuristic and just so beautiful.

Is it silly to love a reclaimed apothecary jar filled with matchsticks? Because I do. (sold here, $20)

apparel & accessories collection : (inspired by) an education.

See: An Education (if you haven't already.) I fell so in love with it when I first saw it and still think about the story and the style all the time for inspiration. And oh, that Carey Mulligan is a doll. (More film stills here.)

ten images of inspiration : stylish albums.

Even above art and design, my biggest love has to be music- but I truly love when the two come together. Needless to say, I adore both well-designed and stylishly kitschy album covers, especially when they go hand-in-hand with some of my most-loved musicians. These are some of my favorites for various reasons (along with bands/singers that own my heart.)

Albums (from top to bottom): The Ventures: Walk Don't Run, Elvis Presley: 50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong, Camera Obscura: Underachievers Please Try Harder, Serge Gainsbourg: Histoire de Melody Nelson, The Beatles: Help!, The Smiths: The Queen is Dead, The Shangri-Las: Leader of the Pack, The Velvet Underground: The Velvet Underground & Nico, Belle & Sebastian: Dear Catastrophe Waitress, and Wanda Jackson: Rockin' With Wanda.

my fave.

I am off for the weekend, but I completely forgot to share this illustration that the great Gemma Correll did of me and my husband for a post over on you are my fave (as a part of Melanie's "cool couples" series.) I just love our little dance moves. Thanks ladies!

Wishing you all a very lovely weekend...

twig hutchinson.

It looks like British interior & prop stylist Twig Hutchinson has recently updated her portfolio and as always, it is absolutely beautiful. She has such a delicate and classic sense of style, I just love it.

thought of the day : it will.

"Everything is gonna be allright," another stunning print from Eva Juliet's shop, a part of her new "vintage" collection. ($30)

interior inspiration : vintage wallpaper.

One of my favorite things about old homes is the wallpaper they occasionally come with. I know many people find old wallpaper atrocious, but I frequently adore the patterns and charm that it adds to a home. One day I am going to buy a huge roll of some (like this perhaps?), cover the bedroom, and very happily enjoy the sweet charm as I curl up with a good book.
