tabitha emma.
It is almost as if these creations by Tabitha Emma were designed just for me. Cupcakes, confections, and tea galore... just a few of my favorite things. I love how delicate and feminine all of her pieces are.

Although I am usually a huge fan of color, sometimes I really like sleek and modern black items (plus, they can look fabulous when paired with something soft and colorful).

I really, really love this fabric wall art by k studio. There is just something so sad and sweet about it (available at Design Public, $198).
denise grunstein.
I am completely enamored by the editorial work of Denis Grunstein. Denise is one of Sweden's best known and highly respected photographers, and it is not hard to see why. Her images are romantic and beautifully styled and reflect such a strong fashion sense. So completely beautiful.

calligraphy.
I am quite obsessed these days with the idea of learning calligraphy. I received a set of pens and ink during the holidays and I am finally making it a goal to teach myself. The past couple nights I have been looking at the work of many wonderful calligraphy artists that are so very talented at creating gorgeous lettering.

lady de lace.
I love well designed lace-inspired items (such as this, which I have posted before). These 'Lady De Lacy' bracelets were inspired by lingerie and its use of lace and are cut out of incredibly thin powder-coated steel. I find them to be quite beautiful (from Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, $135).

lara ferroni.
I am so inspired by the work of Seattle-based Lara Ferroni. Not only is she the girl behind such food-related blogs as Cook & Eat, Fully Completely, and Still Life With, but she is also an incredible food photographer. Her images truly make my mouth water.
Also, for more inspiration, check out Lara's flickr page here. There is so much to look at.

Such a fabulous idea- The Magtable Coffee Table has holes in its surface to keep your magazines from being messy. I could really use one of these. ($158 from Uma).

I am completely in awe of the hand-embroidered porcelain work by London artist Claire Coles. I am quite sure I have never seen anything like it before.
a little bit of me.
me blogging, photo by Alice
I know that I rarely choose to post anything personal on here, since everything is meant to be based on design, but every once in awhile I think it is fun to do so. Today I saw that Chelsea of {frolic!} posted a survey that I thought would be fun to fill out. If you would like to comment (or if you're a blogger, post) your own answers, I would love to hear them!
Three ways you are stereotypically a girl:
1. Pink is my favorite color. Something about it, especially in good design, always tends to cheer me up.
2. I love shoes.
3. I am extremely domestic. I cook, bake, clean, and garden all the time. And I love it.
Three ways you are stereotypically a boy:
1. I belch and fart, I admit it.
2. I have a fowl mouth (my husband says I talk like a sailor).
3. I always think girls are hotter than guys.
Three of your everyday essentials:
1. Coffee from Stumptown
2. Cell phone
3. At least one baked good
-------------------------------------------------------------
1) What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was just about to graduate high school at age 15 and start my first year of college.
2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today?
Drop off my voter ballot, go to the thrift store, blog on my food blog, send out thank you cards, and cook a delicious meal.
3) Snacks I enjoy:
bread and honey, Gouda cheese, vegetarian jerky, fresh fruit, baby carrots, pretzels, bagels and cream cheese, macarons, and muffins.
4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Pay off our debt, travel all around Europe, buy a bakery, buy a big Victorian home with a huge kitchen, buy a new wardrobe, put away money for my kid's college expenses, eat at all the amazing restaurants in the city, and donate money to the things I believe in.
5)Places I have lived before:

I have such a soft spot in my heart for photographs of little sweet shops (or, for that matter, anyplace that sells sugary confections), so I just adore these images from a shop called Hope and Greenwood located in London. Plus, their products sounds absolutely delightful.

3191 : a year of mornings.
Some exciting news- the ever-anticipated collaboration from Stephanie Congdon Barnes and Maria Alexandra Vettese, 3191: A Year of Mornings, is now available for pre-order! I followed their beautiful blog back when they were taking their soft and gorgeous photographs of mornings (they now focus on evenings, which I also love), so I am quite excited to see it all put together in a book.
"A Year of Mornings" collects 236 images—always taken before noon without discussion between the two women – from this uniquely 21st-century artistic collaboration. The intimacy of these photographs—discarded clothing, a view of a snowy day from the window, a table cloth—combined with their striking similarities in color and composition defies the reality of their long-distance collaboration. While clearly kindred spirits, the two women have met in person only once. Their friendship is maintained solely online, sustained by a shared love for moments of serenity, solitude, and peacefulness. The annotated photographs in "A Year of Mornings" radiate an aura of sweetness and light—the promise of a new day."
Available for pre-order here.
